JSJ Origins

Jiro Murai was a Japanese man who lived in the early part of the last century.  He developed a life-threatening illness and the doctors said that there was no hope.  But he decided to research the ancient traditions of Asia, many of them detailed in a book called the Kojiki.  These traditions had been kept largely secret as was common in Asia at that time.

Through study and much practice, Murai developed a system faithful to the ancient traditions, but adapted to a modern approach.   He cured himself and went on to live a long life.

Mary Burmeister was one of several Japanese who studied under Jiro Murai.  She learned thoroughly and expertly his system and brought it to the United States.  In the 1960’s, she began teaching it out of her home and it has expanded since into a worldwide organization based in Scottsdale, Arizona.  It is taught in many countries and class availability is listed on the international website:  jinshinjyutsu.com

Mary Burmeister passed on a few years ago, but was a remarkable woman and talented teacher who put her own special imprint on the legacy of Jin Shin Jyutsu.  She will be fondly remembered!
