JSJ Intro

buddha-tallJin Shin Jyutsu brings together many of the ancient Asian techniques.  It works largely on the meridians throughout the body, and corrects congestion and stagnation to promote a clearer energetic system.   This aids vitality and helps, if not eliminates, many organic challenges.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is done with the client fully clothed, lying on a table, while the therapist places hands in different areas on the body.  These holds are gentle and subtle, often for minutes at a time.  Flows are sequences of holds combined into JSJ routines, performed by the JSJ practitioner.  During a session of flows, the client frequently goes to sleep, often remarking later that “that was the best rest I’ve had in a long time!”   In fact, the energy revitalizes better if the client is not mentally engaged, showing that our tendency during waking hours is to constantly interfere with ourselves.

Jin Shin Jyutsu can be used for stress reduction/relaxation, but is often used also for deeper issues, including very concrete physical symptoms such as scar tissue, muscle problems, digestive complaints, structural problems, skin conditions, and so forth.  Sleeping problems are often greatly diminished by Jin Shin Jyutsu.

In the Asian paradigm, the organ systems are intimately connected with emotional states. For example, liver/gall bladder challenges can cause anger, and stomach/spleen issues can cause nervousness and anxiety.  By relieving the energetic blockages, one can be made happier and more peaceful.

An exceptional feature of Jin Shin Jyutsu is both its complexity and simplicity.   One can study for years and still feel humble, and yet the technique itself is quite simple and useful even for self-care.   It is wonderful to be able to help yourself in this way!
